It was about three o'clock in the morning and I was in my house alone. I was getting ready for bed and was beginning to say my prayers. I have a special prayer room where I go and say my prayers.
Something told me to go into my room and begin to say my prayers NOW.
I sat down on my prayer rug and started saying my prayers.
While saying my prayers, I began to hear this thumping noise. It sounded very far away. I wondered to myself what it was because there was no one else in the house but me. The thumping started to get louder and closer. I listened again and wondered what is was.
Suddenly I began to smell this smell, it was faint at first, but became stronger as the thumping became louder... This smell, smelled like despair, hopelessness, unhappiness, being loss, extreme sadness, emptiness, it grew stronger and the thumping louder...
I continued with my praying, wondering who, or what was coming my way, for it was obvious it was coming to me, the thumping became like drums banging one step at a time, louder and louder it came, the smell overwhelming high.. I continued praying. The sound suddenly stopped. I was totally petrified, out of the corner of my eyes (for I was looking straight ahead, saying my prayers fervently), I saw this Thing standing in the entrance of my prayer room. It was 8-9 feet tall, it was so black that the darkness silhouetted around it. (I had no lights on in the other part of the house) It had a face like a bull and it slowly turn its red eyes towards me and looked down on me where I was sitting saying my prayers.
The feelings of despair, hopelessness, unhappiness, swaying and churning inside of it, screaming, crying out, from its being. This Thing looked straight at me for a full thirty seconds, not saying a word, just looking, watching, not coming into the room. I continued saying my prayers, suddenly it vanished, disappeared without a trace. I finished my prayers and went to bed.
True story, no lie. My experience from this made me realize that all the misery and misfortunes that mankind is experiencing and trying to correct, stems from this one creature, who creates and consumes people manifesting these types of energies. Until we realize this is the real villain, trying to correct those ills mentioned it is useless.
This is a very strange but true story. Not everyone believes in ghosts but I do and I have had several experiences with the super natural, this is only one of my encounters.
This happened when I was only (8) eight years old.
My bus driver's wife had a kitten and she wanted to get rid of it so she offered it to me first and of course I took the female kitten from her. Now this was the first cat that I can remember owning, she was a black and white cat and for some reason I gave her the name Dozier. She was a very sweet cat and she truly was mine because she was every where that I was.
Now we had several other cats and we had a problem with them getting into our attic, seemed like we could not keep them out so we decided to put up boards in the places that they were getting in through but Dozier would always find a way in. Now in my bed room there was a large rectangular hole in the corner of the ceiling: now Dozier had found this hole and we started playing with each other through this hole and I would feed her if I had any food in my room, she would stay there for hours and play with me.
We had this cat for maybe a year, we had her long enough for her to have a litter of kittens. About two weeks after her having her kittens my grandfather had found her dead in the road when we all had gone to the store. Instead of burying her he had just thrown her over the hill. When mom had finally decided to tell me that evening I was sad and depressed because that cat and I were so close and I couldn't believe that my grandfather didn't bury her.
Well we were left to care for her kittens. Days later after Dozier's death I was sitting in my bed room doing home work when suddenly I saw a black and white paw coming through the hole in my ceiling and not really thinking I was glad to see Dozier because my home work was getting on my nerves and I went to play with her. Now her death had completely slipped my mind and I was really playing with her and petting her then I turned to see if I had some food for her when suddenly it hit me that she was dead and I fell flat on the floor trying to get away from her and I busted my head on the floor but the pain didn't faze me. I looked back up at the hole and she was still there waiting for me to bring her something like she always did.
I went to my mother and asked her to go outside and call all of her cats on the porch then I had her to come in the bed room and she saw it to. This dead cat was still there. I was one terrified little girl then suddenly I had realized why she had came back to me, two reason for her return; one was to tell me good bye and the other one was that she was not at rest. The next day when I came home from school I went over the hill where my grandfather had thrown her and found what was left of her and I buried her in the hills and I never seen her again. So I put her soul to rest and she was satisfied and had no reason to come back.
Seeing a ghost is one thing but seeing one and touching one is something that you never forget. The reason that so many ghosts try to reach the living is because they want us to help them to reach the other side.
This an experience related to me by my niece that she had down by a creek on her father's land just about a month ago.
I was in the mood for being alone and just doing the contemplative thing so I went down to the cliffs down behind the house away from everybody. I have a favorite quiet spot that I go to that over looks the large creek running through our property. Spring was getting into full swing and the day was wonderfully warm and sunny, with buzzing bees busily gathering the first pollen of the season and birds singing, so I went to my quiet spot to enjoy the day for a while.
I hadn't been there for very long when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted something white and turned to get a better look at it. There, down by the creek, was a woman washing something in the water. She had long, flowing white hair, and was wearing a white dress that didn't appear to have any decoration of any kind. I noticed that she appeared to be washing rags that were stained with blood. Every time she would dip them into the creek, and then wring them out, the water ran red.
At first, I was rather annoyed that there was a stranger on our property and almost called out to ask what she was doing here trespassing. Then a freezing chill hit me. It surrounded me and it felt like the coldness of death. There was not a sound. No birds sang, not a leaf rustled. I continued to watch the woman in spite of the fact that fear was creeping up my spine like a sack full of spiders. She seemed to be young, but I could not really tell for certain because I could not see her face. And, she seemed to be very sad. Then, to my amazement, she vanished before my eyes! Fading like a mist.
I sat there dumbfounded for a moment, and the realization hit me that I had seen some kind of a ghost! I was still feeling that freezing cold, and even though it was around 80 degrees, I was shivering. I decided that I'd had enough contemplation at my quiet spot for today and ran back to the house, my mind racing crazily with what I had seen. Who was this ghost? Why was she down by the creek washing bloody rags?
I decided to email my aunt and ask her if she could give me any
clues. She had lots of experience with the paranormal and had done lots
of research into this kind of stuff. Besides, she would be the only one
who would believe me. I told her my story and she told me that what I
had seen was most likely a Bean Nighe (pronounced ben-neeya), also
known as the washer woman. She explained that this type of specter, or
ghost, was seen when there was to be a death in the family. Sometimes
they will moan or scream, or some are seen just sitting brushing their
hair. She told me to be glad I didn't see the ghost's face. It was bad
enough that I had even seen one of these type of ghosts anyway. I hope
I never see another.
Stories of Banshees are very common in Scottish and Irish folk lore. In Ireland they are know as Bean Sidh, while in Scottland they are called Bean Nighe. The Banshee is a female spirit who is thought to forewarn of a death. She is most often described having long hair which she brushes or combs. The Banshee is frequently seen washing bloody clothing which is supposed to belong to the person who's death is near, hence the alternate name "Washer Woman"
When we lived in Canberra 1990 we rented a house that I felt had a presence. My children always said they saw something walking around at night , a shadowy figure of a man. My daughter always complained at age 4 that her bed shook at night, yet nothing happened if I shared a night with her to calm her to sleep.
One day when I looked into our dining room I saw a transparent figure that looked like the creature in those predator movies, creepy! You know, all cubic and transparent like glass.
We had a psychic visit our 4 year old and she told us that an earth bound spirit had attached itself to her. It never showed up again.
The second encounter was when we moved back to Sydney. We
rented again and from day one I had felt, saw and heard footsteps
walking up the stairs all night but no one was there.
Once again my
children said they saw a figure as well as my 3 year old son told me
a big black dog would sleep beside his bed. We had a dog but it
slept out in the yard.
My friend said she did not like being downstairs because she sad someone had died in the house.
I always felt no fear until one morning when I was cleaning the room and I actually felt an icy cold body of air fly over my head. It was in a closed room with no wind. Even the birds we had freaked out and the cat ran away. I decided to tell the spirit that if this was its home they could share it with us, but it had to behave or I would have it removed.
Life settled down.
One afternoon my neighbor was chatting to me
and told me about the ghost that was seen in our house, in fact the
previous tenants were so scared that they moved out. She told me how
one night her hubby was outside and he saw a man walking up the road
in a grey work coat and just vanished.
Coloured orbs were seen with the
naked eye as well as the bedroom lights would switch on and off. I would
switch them back on to see them physically switch off again.
We now live in Queensland and I feel another presence in this house. I think it is my cat sooty and my father-in-law who died 6 years ago.
I find it all interesting and i'm not afraid at all.
It was about a 2 years ago that my pop died (he was around
70).
I was staying at my nan's house to keep her company.
I remember one time I had just gotten out of the shower and I was just
about to get dressed and I was the only one in the house because my Nan
was at my Aunts house and wasn't coming home till late. So I was
getting dressed and I heard strange noises outside my door. The
television was switching off and on and flicking through channels and
somebody was ringing the phone.
I
was in shock so I quickly got dressed and ran out into the living room and that's when I saw my Pop sitting in his seat crying.
I almost
fainted I was that scared, then he told me to calm down and sit, so I
did.
He told me he was trying to communicate with my Nan to tell her how much he misses her and how much he loves her. So I asked him why did he have to scare me like that? He told me that the only way that he could let someone know that he was there was to try to scare me.
Around about 6:00pm my Nan came home and I told her everything. She didn't believe me until she saw a note on the table in my Pop's handwriting. She started to cry and I asked if she believed me now?
I still see him around once in a while, and my Nan believes that he's there with her keeping her company.
Hello. I been living in my home for over 7 years. I don't
ever plan
to leave it regardless of my experiences. Some have happen to me and
some to my kids since we lived there. I have always had experiences
with ghosts and only been spooked a couple of times.
The reason I
titled this as "who are they" is because I know there are 3 of them in my
home. I don't know who they are and when I try to ask, no one seems to
know who lived there before me.
I know there is an old lady just by
how she watches what we are doing. There's a little boy because of the
voices I hear and a few of us have seen him. Then there is a man. He
seems to watch everything we do and he seems to be curious about
everything and he is evil in a sense. Hard to explain that. But here's
some of my experiences.
My first experience was about 2 weeks after we moved into the home. I was married at the time and all 3 of my kids lived at home. My daughter and I were sitting in the front room and I was fixing her hair. My sons and husband went to the city to get a few things. As we were sitting there we heard someone knocking on the walls in the hall of our home. The dog would always bark when we did it so now whoever was in our home was now mocking us. The dog was scared and well we were spooked because we were the only two home.
My next experience was when we were finishing our unpacking and I was fixing the bed in my room. My door was shut and my kids were in their own rooms. I heard a little boy call out "mommy". I looked up thinking one of my kids had come into my room and I didn't hear them. Well no sign of either of them so I continued on with making the bed. Then the little boy yelled "mommie" again and this time louder. I was scared. I ran out and asked my kids if they called me and they all said no. My kids have never liked my room. They said there's always a feeling someone is in there and I believe them. I feel it all the time even to this day.
The next experience was for me when I was separated from my husband I was sitting on the sofa in the front room talking to a friend on the phone. My kids went to bed and I was the only one awake. I felt like evil walked into the front room and was watching me and was standing on the other side of the coffee table from me. The presence was so strong. I was scared and grabbed the hammer out of the drawer in the kitchen and went to check on my kids. I didn't sleep that night till the sun came up and my kids woke up. I never felt something so evil in all my life. After that night my youngest would feel cold hands touching him at night, something tugging at his legs and something scratched him and when he showed me it was not that of a cat or dog. I never seen anything like it before. My daughter fell asleep in my bed with her son. She had a dream someone was hugging her from behind and when it spoke it had the voice of her boyfriend. It told her to look at him. She wouldn't and it finally let her go. She has always had bad dreams when she would sleep in my room.
I have heard things in my room but just don't pay any attention to it anymore. My son always sees someone in there sitting on the chair. He just goes on and doesn't try to think about it. My son was scared most by one day he was home and he was babysitting his nephew (daughters firstborn). My grandson has always loved video games since an early age. He wanted to play the video game my oldest son had in his room. My son told him to hold on and he seen my grandson run into the hall so my son got up to follow knowing my grandson couldn't open the door on his own. Our hallway is very dark when all the doors are shut like they are all the time. Well when he got in the hall and turned the light on my grandson was nowhere in sight. He open all the doors and no sign of my grandson in either rooms including the bathroom. My son not sure what to think went back in the front room and my grandson was sitting on the couch. He called his name and my grandson asked if he can play now. My son was so scared and not sure what he had just seen. I told my grandson no to watch a cartoon from the collections we had just for him. When he told me about this experience he said "mom there was no way he could have gotten past me in the hall" I never seen my son like this.
I still to this day hear alot of stories from my son. My 2 oldest kids have grown and moved out. My youngest son has friends who come over who would hear and see things just sitting there visiting. They aren't sure what to think. I now have 3 grandsons and I see the youngest looking off as if someone is there. Sure there is and we just don't see it.
In 2003 I met an amazing guy who is now my husband.
About one
month after we started dating my grandfather passed away. My
boyfriend then attended the funeral with me and stayed with me the
whole night after that. The next morning after the funeral we had
to attend the burial and once we did that we went to breakfast (my
boyfriend went with me).
During breakfast we made a toast to my grandfather when all of a sudden
I dropped my glass and it broke, water went all over (it felt like my
whole arm went numb). Shaking it off we got it all cleaned up and I got
a new glass of water. Earlier that day I was with Brandon (my
boyfriend) I started to get sick to my stomach and got dizzy and
fainted. Brandon took me to the Emergency Room where I was hooked up to
an IV and given oxygen. I finally came too, and couldn’t understand why
this was happening. The doctor said it was because I had become so
overwhelmed that all this happened.
When I was released and sent home I spent the day in bed resting and gaining strength. That night I was reading a book when my lights went out. I turned them back on and continued reading. Not even two minutes later my light went out again. By now I got freaked out and I heard my name. By now I'm scared and I screamed for Brandon, and he came running into my room and held onto me until I fell asleep.
Around midnight I woke to someone calling my name and a cold wind on my arm. Sitting up I asked who was there, and the second I turned my head to my door I saw my grandfather standing in my room. I screamed for Brandon again and when he came into my room he saw me under my covers screaming and crying saying don’t hurt me. After about twenty minutes I finally calmed down and went back to sleep, but not for long. I heard my name and sat up again…my grandfather had come back and this time sat on my bed. I went to scream, but he quickly silenced me. My grandfather said, “Don’t be scared I don’t mean to hurt you. I wanted to tell you I’m proud of you and I approve of Brandon”. After him saying this he left and all I could hear was him say “I Love You”, and once again I called for Brandon, and he came running into my room (by now it was 3:00 in the morning) I told Brandon everything and he smiled and now we are happy and married, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about that night and what my grandfather said.
He still visits to this day and every time he does I just smile and say “I Love You Too”. Story Submitted By: Constance, NY, USA
